Canary Shed wedding photography with Gemma & Alex.

So of course I had to get this wedding on the blog as soon as possible. This wedding is a special one for me. Gemma is a very dear friend and also a mega talented wedding florist at Femme Petal so when she asked me to photograph hers and Alex’s wedding I was absolutely delighted.

They had chosen the Canary Shed in Essex as their wedding venue, a space I have been very excited about working at. And it did not disappoint, the shed itself is beautiful with lots of light and the staff are amazing. I am also forever a fan of the ease of being able to have all of your wedding day in the same space. It also makes your wedding photography better as then I can just move around the whole space capturing almost everything.

The morning for prep was super relaxed. Although Gemma had a few nerves, everything just flowed easily up to the ceremony. Of course Gemma did the flowers and everything looked incredible and I think there is something really special about her creating her own bouquet. And we have to talk about Jasper. Gemma & Alex’s adorable sausage dog and Gemma made the cutest collar of flowers for him to wear.

Gemma & Alex decided to have a celebrant led ceremony which I am always a full supporter of. They had the immensely talented wedding celebrant Nat Raybould lead their ceremony and it was perfect. So personal with plenty of moments for laughs, Nat told their story beautifully and thats why I love Celebrant weddings.

Afterwards we went into the drinks reception in the September sunshine, Gemma had decorated the shed with lots of colour and it’s such a stunning space that we obviously had to do a few couple photos in there before everyone came in. The food was amazing and the speeches were hilarious and heartfelt, it was the perfect afternoon.

We popped out in the evening for some more couple photos and a play with smoke bombs. See if you can spot the reality photo of those, Alex was fine :)

Then it was on to the party and I love that Gemma & Alex opted for a brass band. The Old Dirty Brasstards had the dance floor filled all night and I caught so many epic party moments. It was such a joy to capture this wedding, both to support my friend and also because everyone was just so wonderful and lovely to be around for the day. I am sure the photos will speak for themselves.
