Balfour St Barts wedding photography with Chloe & Phil.

Ahhhh I am so excited to be blogging this wedding. Chloe & Phil got married last year on the very rainy Saturday that was the coronation of King Charles. Now lets be clear they booked the date first. I won’t lie I had some anxiety in the build up… was London going to be a mess? How was everyone going to be about the rain that was forecast all day?

Wedding days are already a challenging workspace without the added potential stresses. I needn’t have worried though. First of all East London was dead and secondly Chloe, Phil and there amazing guests bought all the fantastic energy.

I showed up for prep and everyone was feeling excited and full of energy. I also loved the moodiness of the Apex Temple Hotel for prep as it gave some nice opportunities for light and creativity. I also loved how the coronation was playing in the background, while I am very anti-monarchy it still felt historic.

We then headed out into the wet to make our way to Islington Town Hall for their ceremony. I LOVE working here and over the years it has become a second home for me. The council chamber is always such a stunning space and I love the light, the red and the way the guests sit in a circular set up. Chloe & Phil have such beautiful and expressive energy and so did their friends & family so there was so much to photograph.

Post ceremony I couldn’t help myself with the portrait of King Charles.

We then all piled outside for confetti and group photos and everyone pulled together to get these done in the rain quickly so we could all get on the bus and start the party. And did we party. I love the old routemasters, they are a great way to give your guests a tour of London and get the party started and that’s exactly what we did. I don’t think I will ever forget Chloe’s mum hanging off the back reliving her childhood.

We arrived at Balfour St Barts to food and drinks before everyone sat down for the meal. This is such a great city venue. Located in Farringdon next to Smithfield Market. It has a lovely slightly grander pub vibe. The mezzanine inside gives opportunity for some great photos and it’s a great space for a party.

The speeches were excellent, these are always my favourite part of the day. Speeches always give opportunity for emotion, laughter, creativity and so many other great moments. Chloe & Phil’s didn’t disappoint. After the meal while it was still pissing it down we ran over to Smithfields for a few more couple photos and I love the one of Chloe running across the road with Phil’s jacket over her head.

Then it was time to party! And did they party well… absolutely.

This day was a complete joy to photograph and I love the photos so there is a lot in this post.

ENJOY!
